Do you feel overwhelmed by your thoughts?
Do you think how prepared you are for any unfortunate events in the future?
Do you think about possible worst case scenarios? If yes; then Perhaps you are accustomed to overthinking? Our mind is made to think …but we should not believe everything it tells us and it is always not right.
1. When you are overwhelmed with thoughts, take deep breaths until you are calm and focus on your breath and any bodily sensations. Remind yourself you can choose to focus on your awareness and let the thoughts just be there and not do anything about it.
2. Remember your thoughts are just thoughts and not facts. Instead they are mental events that come up automatically in our mind depending on our mood and perhaps even our past experiences. When we understand what is happening we arable to create some space between ourself and our thoughts
3. Question your negative thoughts:
a) Is this thought true?
b) Is this thought based on feelings or facts?
c) How does it make you feel?
d) What will things be like if I did not hold this belief?
